Meghan Stanton identified her niche, a classic boys clothing line for boys who like to move. Then she did her homework, and sought out parents to show her designs and get feedback. When she launched Henry Duvall, she sold out the collection on the first day. It pays to prepare. Here’s more.

Raising three children,  and living on an Island outside the U.S.A. could stop most people from trying to launch a new business. Then hit them with a Pandemic and it’s an absolute deal breaker! Not so for Meghan Stanton. She had a dream and a niche and was not going to be denied. 

While she was raising her boys, she found that the fashion industry really lacked a modern flare to little boys’ clothing. She reached out to other parents and found they felt the same way. Then she continued her engagement and showed them some of her ideas. She asked them for feedback and listened to their thoughts. 

Meghan incorporated what she learned into her line, and built a community of interested parents at the same time. When she launched, she had an eager audience that quickly became buyers,  and despite Covid, Henry Duvall went from an Island fantasy to a successful start-up on its first day. 

Henry Duvall: The Idea

Henry Duvall is a celebration of the timeless spirit of boyhood. Boys are curious and imaginative, playful and adventurous. Henry Duvall strives to reflect this character in every piece it creates. The line embraces updated classics, effortless style, and playful details. The high quality, durable yet comfortable designs encourage the timeless spirit of boyhood and are constructed for boys who like to move. 

Founder, Meghan Stanton, conceived Henry Duvall as an expression of her life and love of timeless style. She was born and raised in Bermuda, lived in London, and on the East Coast of the United States. Eventually, she and her husband returned to her Island home and are now raising their three children on Bermuda’s pink shores. 

Her designs are inspired by the people and places she loves the most: the old-world charm of her pastel Island, the classic prep of New England, and the southern grace of coastal Georgia. 

Meghan came to V.Mora with just a general idea of her brand’s mission. She curated some sketches and a color palette, and we were happy to help her on the way with the rest of her journey.  Meghan said, “I probably could have sourced the vendors and communicated with factories myself. I think it would have taken a lot longer, and I know there would have been a lot more hiccups and a lot bigger hiccups.” She believes that this partnership helped her fast track the development of her line. She went from concept to launch within one year during the pandemic. She believes doing it herself without an experienced partner might have taken as long as 5 years. 

During the early stages of her line, Meghan would send parents messages asking for their opinions of little boys’ clothing and what they really wanted to see. Meghan did a great job of market research by communicating with her audience about her product. This built an authentic connection and attracted even more followers who were excited about interacting with a designer who actually listened to them. 

She solidified her brand identity and created valuable content. This active customer engagement built a brand loyal audience who bought out her entire collection on her first launch day. 

Business Model:

Being trapped on a quarantined Island during Covid did not give Meghan many choices for distribution other than social media and ecommerce; however, she accepted those choices and made them thrive. Currently, she sells three different collections on her website at: www.HenryDuvall.com

Henry Duvall has a Field Collection of sports and athleisure wear for boys who like to move. These items have a classic look, and are built to take the punishment dished out by active boys at play. Her Playground Collection features more comfy, cozy wear that are great for chilling, travel, or playtime. She also offers a Seasonal Collection: Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. These feature clothing for the various seasons and changing temperatures. 

The clothing designs vary from adorable onesies for infants to bottoms, tops, and accessories for older boys. Henry Duvall clothing is affordably priced to stay within a family budget, and it is designed to be comfortable and durable so that it can be passed down from big brother to little brother. 

For promotion, Henry Duvall relies heavily on Facebook and Instagram where it continuously feeds an active community of followers with great content and communication. On Facebook, the Henry Duvall page has a Shop Now button that takes the viewer directly to the website, and on Instagram the page has a very visible, clickable link right under the profile description. 

Growing and Evolving:

As Henry Duvall evolves from its successful launch to scaling for a growth phase, Meghan Stanton is poised for this evolution. She draws ideas from her environment and as she goes through her days, she stores the images and colors on future moodboards. This makes it easier to jump into her next season or new collections, and keeps her fresh and ready to expand as the market demands grow.

By combining passion, experience, and a great idea, Meghan created and launched her line within a year during a Pandemic slowdown. The key to her success was her understanding of giving the customer what they desire and teaming up with a very  experienced consultant.
