Client Spotlight: Henry Duvall by Meghan Stanton

Meghan Stanton created Henry Duvall, the little boys’ clothing line during the pandemic, raising three kids, while living in Bermuda. It sold out on its launch day! In this feature Meghan Stanton reveals the secrets to her success.

At V.Mora it is such a joy to work with so many different clients and contribute to  their success. Meghan Stanton is one of our clients who pairs her ideas and business acumen with our systems here at V.Mora. After selling out several pieces of her little boys’ clothing collection,  Meghan spoke to Anna Livermore for our latest podcast in The {Fashion} District. You can listen to the full interview HERE.

About Henry Duvall

Q: Tell us more about your brand, Henry Duvall?

A: I just launched my line Henry Duvall in February, 2022. It is a brand of updated classics for boys. The concept behind it is celebrating boyhood and the magic of childhood.

Q: How long have you been a Client at V.Mora?

A: I have been a client since December 2021

Meghan Stanton discovered Henry Duvall during her experience of raising her lovely boys. She found that the industry really lacked a modern flare to little boys’ clothing. Her story is a great one because even though she lives in Bermuda, with three children, she created something wonderful during the crazy time of Covid.

How Meghan Stanton Got Started

Meghan’s Secret Sauce

Meghan’s success also comes from her dedication to making her line work and pivoting if needed. For example, during the early stages of her line, Meghan would send parents messages asking their opinions of little boys' clothing and what they really wanted to see. Meghan did a great job at market research by communicating with her audience about her product. She was also not afraid of reaching out, and not hearing back, as sometimes that happens during your market research stage. Meghan really solidified her brand identity and created valuable content for people:  like showing how her line went well with little girls clothing brands. Our Branding Series goes into different ways to connect to your audience, you can check it out HERE.

Staying Inspired

Q: What keeps you inspired?

A: My boys and my environment keeps me inspired. There are a lot of pastel colors in Bermuda and I also take inspiration from the summer time in New England.

It is true, inspiration is everywhere! Sometimes designers get inspiration blocks but the truth is, your environment can draw up so much inspiration, from colors to fashion styles. Meghan finds inspiration as she goes and stores the images and colors for future moodboards. This makes it easy to jump into your next season. At this time, Meghan is working on her next collection.

Working with V.Mora

Q: What part of the journey of creating your line were you in?

A: I came to V.Mora with the direction of where I wanted to take Henry Duvall as well as some sketches and a color palette.

The truth is, you don’t need to come to V.Mora with everything set. Meghan had a general idea of her brand’s mission, to create modern classics for boys in a world that does not have many little boys’ brands. With just a mission, Meghan curated some sketches and color palette, and we, at V.Mora, we are happy to help with the rest of the process.

“...I probably could have [sourced the vendors, and communicated with factories] myself. I think it would have taken a lot longer, and I think…there would have been a lot more hiccups and a lot bigger hiccups…” -Meghan Stanton

You don't know what you don't know

Meghan is right! There are so many dedicated and talented designers out there who can learn to do everything themselves but, what you sacrifice is time and experience.  Time is a very valuable resource because sacrificing time could mean the difference between releasing your line this year or releasing it in 5-10 years. A new venture always feels more comfortable when you work with people who have the experience and the connections to get you your final product.

Henry Duvall sold out on launch day! By combining passion, experience, and a great idea, Meghan created and launched her line within one year! Imagine if that could be you. Personally, what I found to be Meghan’s key to success was her understanding of giving the customer what they desire, and at V.Mora we were happy to help in production and guidance of that.

The first, best way to get good at something is to spend 10,000 hours practicing mastery. The second is hiring someone with 10,000 hours of practice behind them. As a future successful designer you want to make sure you are dedicating the right time to the right tasks. Assembling the right team can make all the difference. V.Mora works as a critical part of your team. With our fashion expertise and knowledge our aim is to accelerate you from the drawing board to the fashion line launch. We love to celebrate the success stories of our innovative clients and Meghan Stanton’s triumphant story is just one of many V.Mora has played a significant role in.  Congratulations to Meghan and her Henry Duvall line. I hope I can share your story very soon.
